Fairness between generations – What should a framework for assessing the intergenerational effects of decarbonisation and climate adaptation look like? Friday 10 September 2021, 3:00pm - 4:45pm One of the challenges in tackling a long-term fundamental issue like climate change is to ensure that the approach taken is “fair” between current and future generations. This roundtable explored who pays when and how to develop a framework for assessing the intergenerational effects of decarbonisation and how to ensure climate adaptation across the generations. The roundtable first considered the recent report for Sustainability First from Frontier Economics on this topic.  Then panel then discussed what actions are needed to ensure the intergenerational effects of de-carbonisation and climate adaptation are properly considered in policy making. Building on the Frontier report, Sustainability First has published a  Viewpoint  summarising the key messages as we see them and our view of the steps that need to be taken.   Speakers include:  Peter Davies - Chair, Dwr Cymru Welsh Water Customer Challenge Group Paul Johnson - Director, Institute for Fiscal Studies Bridget Rosewell CBE - Commissioner, NIC Maureen Paul - Interim Chief Economist, Ofgem Matthew Bell - Director, Froniter Economics  Ammar Malik - Consultant, Frontier Economics
